Two Men Charged with Prison Murder of Former Lostprophets Frontman Ian Watkins

Two men have been formally charged with murder in the wake of the death in prison of ex-Lostprophets frontman and convicted child sex offender Ian Watkins.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43 have both been charged with murder and will appear before Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, as stated by investigating officers.

Watkins, 48, was serving a 29-year sentence at HMP Wakefield, alongside six more years under supervision, after pleading guilty to multiple sexual crimes among them the attempted rape of a baby.

Watkins was arrested after the execution of a substance-related warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were taken as evidence.
